Portuguese Prepositions
A preposition links nouns, pronouns and phrases to other words in a sentence. A preposition usually indicates the temporal, spatial or logical relationship of its object to the rest of the sentence as in the example in the table below.
THINGS TO REMEMBER: Most prepositions would begin with the link word ‘em’ and after the preposition would follow ‘de’. These help put the preposition words into context and help the flow of sentences in Portuguese.

The most common prepositions are: after (depois), at (em), before (antes), between (entre), under (baixo), on (cima), in (em), out (fora), behind (atrás) … (for a longer list, see the table at the bottom of this page).
